Located just off Gap Newport Pike in Avondale, this grocery store carries the unmistakable warmth of a neighborhood market where familiar faces greet you and the air is rich with the tantalizing promise of international flavors. The pace is unhurried but purposeful, perfect for wandering and uncovering hidden gems among fresh produce displays and aromatic spice shelves.
The hum of friendly conversations and the gentle clatter of carts create an inviting backdrop to a grocery experience that feels both personal and grounded. Here, the focus isn’t just on the ingredients but on the stories they carry—whether it’s the crispness of fresh corn priced affordably or the vibrant selection of Latin spices and hard-to-find products you won’t find in bigger chains. The meat section signals a deep cultural connection, reflected in care and authenticity, even if some details speak more clearly in Spanish than in English, adding to the sense of genuine community.
A notable rhythm exists between fresh, high-quality produce and well-priced specialty items, making it a favorite stop for those eager to cook traditional Mexican and other Latino dishes in their own kitchens. The takeout counter and rotating selection keep things dynamic, offering an accessible way to sample dishes or grab a quick meal when time is short. Throughout the market, the staff’s helpful and courteous presence gently eases the experience, making browsing feel less transactional and more like a small adventure.
Outside, a modest floral display invites a moment of quiet appreciation before stepping inside, reminding you that this is a place where everyday errands meet small, joyful discoveries. Gigante International Food Market isn’t just a grocery store—it’s a local hub where culture, flavor, and community quietly converge, offering a welcome pause from the ordinary.

My husband and I always stop at Gigante on our way home from weekends in Delaware. They have great produce at terrific prices (today we got corn on the cob at 12 for $2.99), and a wide variety that our chain grocery store does not carry. They also have good bargains on spices and a hot food takeout counter. My only regret is that their signs in the meat counter are all in Spanish, so I find it hard to buy meat there. If the signs were translated into English, I would definitely buy meat too. All in all, a nice smallish grocery with lots of great ethnic foods, fresh produce, and good prices.

Great supermarket with plenty of Latin items. Many of the things you wouldn't find in regular chain supermarkets. There is plenty of parking and a very convenient location. Good friendly helpful staff and good value prices.

It is an International grocery store catering to the Latino cusine. The prices on fresh produce are excellent and quality is good so I try to buy most of my produce there. The cashiers and staff are helpful and courteous. If you like to cook Mexican food, this is the place to buy authentic Mexican ingredients.

Great store, great people, great prices. Make sure you always check out the flowers out front there are usually great deals. The selection varies week to week and there are many things here I cannot get anywhere else. The prices are very fair and the meat and produce are incredibly fresh. Love doing shopping here whenever I can.

Nice small Mexican grocery, with great selection of produce. The store also has a nice selection of meats, many pre-seasoned and ready to cook. Store has a grille to get cooked to order food at the front of the store. I've driven by many times, glad I finally decided to stop in.
